I.T. Specialist

I.T. Specialist required to work for Newfield Fabrications Co Ltd based from our head offices in Sandbach, Cheshire.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The main purpose of the position is to be responsible for the computer systems within Newfield Fabrications working alongside the IT Manager.

A key responsibility of this position is to ensure the smooth running of the Company's IT systems, including MRP System (Epicor Vantage) and ensuring staff awareness of compliance with the system processes and procedures and to identify and deliver training where required.

To promote continuous improvement initiatives in relation to health & Safety, service, cost, quality and environment. Work to key performance indicators in relation to the key tasks detailed below:-

KEY TASKS:
  • To assist the IT Manager in ensuring that IT systems are managed, maintained and supported.
  • To ensure that any IT related breakdowns and issues are resolved promptly and such issues are appropriately documented.
  • To deal with any other issues and activities that require IT skills as appropriate, following guidelines and standard procedures wherever possible.
  • Responsible for the development and improvement of the Company's MRP System (Epicor Vantage) and provide advice and guidance on the system as/when required.
  • Assist Module Leaders with data mining requirements and explain/clarify relevant system procedures.
  • To create and revise standard operating procedures for any new processes that you are involved with.
  • To adhere to corporate strategies, policies and procedures at both company and department levels.
  • Strictly adhere to security protocols and corporate policies and escalate discrepancies to IT Manager.
  • Schedule, co-ordinate and conduct project activity requested by Directors.
  • This role may require you to work extended / unsociable hours in order to facilitate essential upgrades or deal with critical breakdowns, you must be able to accommodate unscheduled extended working days at short notice to deal with breakdowns, you must be able to accommodate scheduled out-of-hours working times in order to assist with maintenance/upgrades.

Skills Required:

Essential:
  • Generic:
    • Strong general IT skills with at least 5 years experience of working in a fast paced IT environment.
    • At least 5 years experience of working with enterprise level MRP/ERP systems.
    • Systems analysis, work flow modeling, system design experience.
    • Working knowledge of ITIL standards or similar.
    • Proven network experience - Cisco or equivalent.
    • Excellent managerial/supervisory skills.
    • Ability to delegate and communicate well with management and staff.
    • Work well under pressure.
    • Methodical, along with the ability to balance workloads for each area.
    • Good team player with the ability to work under your own initiative.
    • Ability to provide training to other members of staff as applicable.
    • Flexible on working hours.
  • Specific:
    • Epicor Vantage systems knowledge and experience.
  • Software knowledge of:
    • Microsoft Windows Client+Server Operating Systems, including active directory management.
    • Microsoft Office Access/Excel/Outlook/Word/Powerpoint applications - advanced user support.
    • Ability to diagnose/maintain simple MS-Access applications.
    • Ability to diagnose/maintain Excel spreadsheets containing complex macros.
    • Crystal reports, design and maintain.
    • Microsoft Terminal Services.
    • Knowledge of legacy software support, example able to support old ms-dos based applications in new Windows pc's and work around issues that occur.
    • Microsoft SQL + IIS Servers, ability to support, diagnose, and create simple scripts.
    • Working knowledge of Linux (Debian or Red Hat preferential) at terminal level.
    • Demonstrable knowledge of Visualization platforms and good understanding of different types of technologies used and how they fit together.
    • Email technology - IMAP/SMTP, blacklist removal, anti-spam filtering.
    • File Systems including NFS, ZFS, CEPH, Clustering, Sharding.
    • IP networking and common protocols, including routing, DNS, DHCP, PXE
    • Understanding of HA, load balancing, clustering and server sharding.
    • LAMP (Linux-Apache-MySql-Php) applications, from installation through to patching and customizing.
  • Hardware and server technology experience including:
    • Server+Desktop hardware maintenance.
    • Nas/san/raid storage devices.
    • Switches and routers, including configuration
    • Access Control Systems.

Desirable:
  • Experience of implementation and upgrade Epicor 8 to version 9 and/or 10.
  • Working knowledge of Timeware T&A / Access Control system.
  • Working knowledge of Vmware, Proxmox (both VM+Containers), Virtualbox platforms.
  • CCTV DRV systems, diagnosing and resolving issues.
  • Alcatel-Lucent VOIP systems.
  • Knowledge of legacy software, able to support old ms-dos based applications in new Windows PC's.
  • Foxpro/Dos support/development of bespoke network based applications.
  • Delphi support/development of bespoke network based applications.
  • Any programming or scripting experience.
  • Experience with Linux servers.
  • Web experience with:
    • mysql, php, apache, nginx, joomla, wordpress, javascript
    • Demonstrable web development skills
  • Programming experience with:
    • Crystal reports, vbscript, excel macros, access,
    • mysql, php, nodejs, dbase, foxpro/dox, delphi, pascal, pardox, basic, javascript
  • Microsoft Office365.
  • PRINCE2 Project Management qualification.
